St. Peter Cathedral School Philosophy

We believe St. Peter Cathedral School is a unique
extension of the Catholic Church's educational mission. We
believe, through teaching in a Christ-like manner, we can provide an
atmosphere that cultivates the spiritual, intellectual, emotional,
social and physical growth of each individual.
St. Peter Cathedral School has full recognition
stature for Non-public Elementary Schools by the State Board of
Education - since 2002. Full Recognition for Diocesan Self-Study by
the Catholic Education Office - also since 2002.

Financial Information and
Tuition information is available through the
school office. The Assist-A-Student
program is designed to help families whose
children otherwise could not afford to attend
St. Peter Cathedral School.
Academic Achievement: St. Peter Cathedral
School students have received numerous awards in several academic
areas at the local, state and national levels. An average of
30 Regional and State qualifiers at the Illinois State History Fair
since 1999. Iowa Basic Test Results for 2004 show that St.
Peter Cathedral School Students, on the average, scored in the top
1/4 of the students across the nation who took the exam.
Facilities
Ten classrooms in the main
school building and 1 classroom in the Cathedral
of St. Peter. There are 7 auxiliary rooms,
including a full size gymnasium and kitchen,
computer lab, art and science labs and library.
Our playground includes a fully enclosed park
setting with playground equipment, soccer and
ball fields.

Staff include 20 full and part-time teachers,
aides, and secretaries. All teaching staff
are state certified; teaching staff is certified
in religious education. 80% of the

Title I Services Curriculum: The curriculum offers a solid
foundation for the diversified options facing our young people in
today's world. Included are: Reading, Language Arts,
Spelling, Handwriting, Math, Social Studies, Science, Italian,
Religion, Computer Training, Art, Music, Life Skills (Drug
Education, Career Education, Study Skills, and Catholic Sex
Education).
